Ben Horne

bentBen Horne came to Marist College, Kogarah for Year 11 in 2003. Prior to this Ben was a student at Marist College, Penshurst. In 2004 he was Dux of the College coming first in most of his subjects. That year Ben also received the College's "Caltex All Rounder Award" for his totatl contribution to the school.

Ben always had a love of sport and writing and this naturally led him to a career in sports journalism.

Ben fondly remembered teachers such as Dave Callendar, Mark Hilderbrant and Paul McNarmara. He spoke of the contribution they made to his education.

Ben took time to speak to a Year 9 PdHPe class who were very interested in what he had to say about the people he has meet in his job as a writer for The Big League magazine. He particularly spoke of ex Kogarah Marist students he his interviews such as Keith Galloway, George Ndaira and Darryl Millard.

Ben is a humble young man who said he did not think he was super intelligent and put his success down to hard work and organisation.

On 1st May, 2009 Ben returned to the College to take part in our Centenary Interviews. Ben's interview was organised and conducted by staff member Mark Hilderbrant. It can be seen on the YouTube Centenary Channel by following this link.

We thank Ben for his support of the College's Centenary Celebrations.
