Different Times But One Place
© 2007 Tony Shepherd
Standing in the hallway surrounded by faces
Thinking of those places I ran as a child
Pictures of school boys all frozen in glory
Each of their stories suspended in smiles.
Dreams that all young boys shared
Fostered by teachers who cared.
CHROUS
Still we all came together, different times but one place
And we all now remember those dreams we chased.
All the singing and the playing,
The learning and the praying
That each and every one of us faced
Different times but one place.
Brothers in the playgrounds with gusty winds blowing
Showing the rosary and habits they wore.
Chanting the classroom from numbers to Latin
Repeating the patterns like often before
Things we all needed to know,
Truths that would help us all grow
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Some gave their gifts, some gave their laughter
Some gave their warmth, while others their lives.
Teahcers and students together thereafter
Forever united in time.
One hundred years gone and we're now back together
Thinking of brothers and friends of our time
It's not all that long for those who forever
Are all joined together, each one in their prime.
CHORUS
