Some Football Trivia from 50 years ago

Thanks to John Deady, Marist Brothers' Kogarah student in the 1950's for the following trivia.

"It’s a bit  of a  coincidence that the Centenary Football Match is  against Marist  North Shore. They were not in our competition back  in 1957-58 but each  year we had a practise match against   North Sydney/ Mosman usually  around  Anzac Day

We had a pretty good  side with two of  our members  going  on to  play first grade. Dennis O’Bryan played half for  St George , North Sydney (and City 2nds )  and Bernie  De Witt (wing for  Canterbury). However Mosman had the well known Ken  Irvine , Nick  Yakich (also a Kangaroo winger..I  played with  him at Teachers College) ,Fred Yakich (Manly Centre ) and Peter Harrison (North Sydney Five  eight). So out of that game there were two Kangaroo wingers and four first graders.

I  wonder what may lie ahead for those boys  playing in  the Centenary Match?"
